About UK Taxation

The UK tax system is administered by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) and uses a progressive income tax structure. Most employees pay tax through the Pay As You Earn (PAYE) system, where tax and National Insurance are deducted from wages before you receive them.

Our UK tax calculator includes both income tax and National Insurance calculations for the 2024-25 tax year. Scotland has its own income tax rates, which are different from the rest of the UK, but National Insurance rates remain the same across all UK countries.

Important: This calculator provides estimates for income tax and National Insurance only. Additional considerations may include student loan repayments, pension contributions, benefits in kind, and other factors that could affect your actual tax liability.

For comprehensive tax advice, especially for complex situations like self-employment, property income, or investments, consider consulting with a qualified accountant or tax advisor.
